Introduction:
A Brief History of Classical
Music:
Today we think this of kind
music as "old", or "boring." We think that this kind of music is only fit
for background or elevator music. What we don't realize is that classical
music has influenced most songs, and that the greatest composers of the
past are responsible for this. That we owe it all to them for all of our,
wonderful, music that we hear everywhere today. The first major musical
progress began in the Baroque Era of Music, where some of the first complex
musical ideas were born. Baroque means "deformed" in Latin. The music in
this period was very interesting The most famous composer of the time was
Johann Sebastian Bach. even though bach was born in the Renaissance (the
rebirth of Europe, or period before Baroque), Bach was considered to be
the father of Baroque Music. Bach was also considered the greatest composer
that ever lived. He was famous for playing all sorts of instruments, including
Organ, Harpsichord, Violin, in addition to singing in the choir during
his childhood. The next musical period was the Classical Era. During this
time, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was probably the most famous composer. Mozart
was a musical genius, and had a huge musical talent. Right now Mozart is
probably the most well-known composer. Most people know his songs more
than others. Mozart played many instruments including piano, harpsichord,
and organ. Another composer from the Classical period was Ludwig Van Beethoven.
He was also a great composer
who made very nice songs (such as Ode to Joy). Beethoven played mainly
piano and violin. The next period was the Romantic Era. Composers in this
time were not as famous, or as skilled in music as composers in other periods.
Some composers were Muzio Clementi, and Kuhlah. After this was the Dodecaphonic
(all 12 tones) period, or contemperary period. This music (in my own personal
view) is not exactly....... so music-like. the music here I think is just
basically banging the piano. In this website, I will talk about the different
sides and composers of music. Hopefully after you are done reading all
of this, you will appreciate music better......
